Reclaiming the Joy of Swimwear (And Why It Matters)

For the first time in my life, swimwear shopping felt like a battle between my reflection and my confidence. I stood in front of the mirror, tugging at straps, adjusting the bottoms, wondering why something that used to be a confidence builder for me was now so complicated. I had heard my friends talk about this exact moment for years, but never experienced it until now - circa 2019, my youngest son was 5yo and I was getting into a new swimsuit for the first time since starting the process of having babies.

For so many of us, the act of putting on a swimsuit isn’t just about finding the right size or style—it’s about confronting expectations, insecurities, and the deep-seated belief that swimwear is only for "perfect" bodies. But here’s the truth: that belief is a lie. And it’s one I set out to challenge when I created LT swimsuits.

Swimwear Should Celebrate, Not Critique

Somewhere along the way, swimwear became less about feeling good and more about covering up perceived flaws. We internalize messages about what’s "flattering" and what’s "acceptable," making it easy to forget the real purpose of a swimsuit—to move, swim, explore, be present with our families and feel alive.

I spent years as a competitive swimmer, and my relationship with swimsuits was always tied to functionality first. But even then, I noticed the gap. Performance suits were designed for movement but lacked style. Fashion suits looked beautiful but weren’t built to support real activity. Women deserved better. WE deserved better.

Function Meets Confidence: The LT Difference

When I designed my first suit, I knew I wanted something different. Something that wasn’t just about looking good, but about feeling incredible—secure, supported, and stylish, all at once. Because the right fit isn’t just about measurements; it’s about how a suit makes you feel when you step into it.

That’s why every LT suit is designed to move with you. Whether you’re chasing kids on the beach, diving into the waves, or just soaking up the sun, your suit should work with you—not against you. From reversible styles that double your options to premium fabrics that hold their shape, every detail is intentional.

Shifting the Swimwear Narrative

We need to stop thinking of swimsuits as something we have to "fit into" and start thinking of them as something that fits into our lives and bodies NOW. The joy of swimwear isn’t about how it looks in a dressing room (because those lights SUCK!)—it’s about how it makes you feel when you’re living in it.

So this is my challenge to you: reclaim the joy of swimwear. Find a suit that makes you excited to hit the beach, the pool, the boat, or wherever the water calls you. Wear it boldly. Wear it confidently. And most of all, wear it knowing that your body—just as it is—was made for this.

Let’s Talk

I want to hear from you. What’s your biggest struggle with swimwear? And more importantly, what’s one thing you love about how your body moves in the water? Let’s start the conversation.

Because the more we talk about this, the more we can shift the narrative. And that, my friend, is how we reclaim the joy of swimwear—together.

With love & confidence,
Laura
